In the Caledonian discussion of recent years, the results obtained by KAUTSKY (1946) have not been considered. In the Tysfjord area, the main Caledonian nappe has a proven stratigraphic displacement of 120 km, most likely 160 km and quite probably 240 km or more. These results are discussed.
