The ilmenite-deposit Tellnes (south Norway) is a trough-like, massive ore body of ilmenite-norite with sharp borders against the surrounding anorthosite. Sampies taken from drill cores are preferably used for detailed mineragraphic description, paragenesis and modal and chemical analyses. Field Observations and microscopic investigations prove that the ore body has been formed by intrusicn and fractional crystallization in connection with the precambrian evolution of this area. An explanation of the genesis will be undertaken after further investigation of the other ilmenite deposits in the Ana-Sira massif.
