Holocene shore displacement at Nappstraumen, Lofoten, North Norway

1-5

Studies of raised shore features and 14C datings at Nappstraumen suggest two transgression phases in the Holocene, represented by the 9 m shoreline from the mid-Atlantic (6500-6000 YBP) and the 6 m shoreline from the early Subboreal (c. 4500 YBP). The total rise in the shore level from the mid-Boreal to
the mid-Atlantic has probably been at least 12-13 m.
