Perthite phenocrysts in an ekerite (soda granite) from the contact zone in the vicinity of Eikeren, Norway, contain concentrations of quartz blebs in roughly tabular zones that are parallel to apparently pre-existing faces of the phenocrysts' cores. It is concluded on the basis of petrography and compositional relationships that the phenocrysts grew in magma and that their quartz-bleb-rich zones represent simultaneous crystallization of the quartz and its enclosing feldspar.
