A study has been made of a mainly quartz-epidote-clinochlore veinmineral assemblage associated with a tear fault affecting southem Norwegianbasement gneisses. It is concluded that retrogressive shearing breakdown of thegneiss mineralogy resulted in the liberation of chemical components, whichlargely contributed to the vein mineral assemblage developed in nearby joints.
