The writer points to a number of mostly structural features that seem to favour a correlation of the Moinian of Scotland with the metamorphic ("Eocambrian") Sparagmitian of Scandinavia, and possibly also of the Torridonian with the unmetamorphic pre-tillite Sparagmitian. The Scottish Portaskaig-Schiehallion boulder bed is correlated with the tillites of the Upper Sparagmitian, and the higher Dalradian with the (lower) Cambro-Silurian of the Scandinavian Caledonian zone.
