It is shown that the formation of veins in metamorphic psammitic rocks is closely related to creep, involving fracturing, subgrain development,stress-induced diffusion, syntectonic-recrystallization, and chemical replacement. The veins are easily subjected to annealing recrystallization and graingrowth resulting in equilibrium disposition of grain boundaries and a generalcoarsening of the vein fabric.
